Continuing Bellydance - Learn some exciting new moves! This woman-centered class will build on basic bellydancing moves through traveling, bridging one move into the next, and layering multiple moves, resulting in a choreographed number. Prop-work (veil, zill, cane, etc…) may also be covered. Offered at the McGaw YMCA, this class is appropriate for all women: past Intro to Belly Dance attendees or those who have previous dance experience, but beginners are also welcome. Students can be as young as 8 and as old as the sun. Students under 14 must attend with their parent.
Please dress in comfortable, standard workout attire (no skirts) and bring a hip scarf if you have one. |

Continuing Bellydance |

Introduction to Bellydance - learn bellydance in a welcoming, relaxed environment. Leave your shy side at home and have fun in this woman-centered workshop, appropriate for all women: young, old, pregnant, postpartum, big, and small. Offered at Bloom Yoga Studio and the McGaw YMCA, you’ll learn an ancient art form that is also a great workout. Benefits of belly dancing include weight loss, improved posture, muscle toning, and stress reduction. Previous dance experience is not necessary. Students can be as young as 8 and as old as the sun. Students under 14 must attend with their parent. Please dress in comfortable standard workout attire and get ready to move and have fun! |

Introduction to Bellydance |

Parent/Child Bellydance - Learn belly dancing together with your kids in a relaxed, welcoming environment. This class or workshop will include some simple combinations, instead of complex choreography, in addition to the basic bellydance moves. Previous dance experience is not necessary. Dress in comfortable, standard workout attire. Caregivers and children ages 4 - 10 are welcome. |

Parent/Child Bellydance |

Parent/Tot Bellydance - Come and play, belly-style! With a focus on movement and fun, you and your toddler can experience the rhythms and motions of bellydance at your own pace. Best suited for walking babies and toddlers (ages 1—3), though younger and older siblings are also welcome to join in on the fun. Coin-belts and zills (finger symbols) will be made available for the babies during class so they can experiment with the noises that come with bellydance.

Prenatal/Postpartum Bellydance – what better way to celebrate your role as mom than by celebrating the belly? Join this class, designed for prenatal and post-partum mamas, to explore what your body can do through belly dance. Offered at Bloom Yoga Studio , you’ll learn which belly dance moves are useful to you during labor, as well as which moves can help you soothe a fussy baby. Postpartum mamas – come on your own or wear your baby (in the carrier of your choosing) during class and share the experience with them! Previous dance experience is not necessary. Please dress in comfortable, standard workout attire and get ready to move! |

The choreography taught is also more complex. Students can be as young as 8 and as old as the sun. Students under 14 must attend with their parent. Previous dance experience is not necessary. Bellydance II – like Continuing, this class will feature choreography. Offered at Performing Arts Limited, this class meets in semesters (fall, spring, and summer), allowing the group of students more time to learn to work with each other. The choreography taught is also more complex. Please dress in comfortable, standard workout attire and get ready to move! Props (veil, zills, balancing items) may be used, so bring them if you have them. Props will be made available for purchase (cash or check) as dictated by the choreography. |

Zumba©! – if you like to dance and need to sweat, this one’s for you! Offered at Performing Arts Limited, this is the only “workout” class taught by Malik. Zumba© is so much fun that you’ll have a blast dancing the hour away and won’t even realize you’re “exercising”! Zumba© combines Latin and other dance steps (of course, there will be bellydancing!) to keep your heart moving along with the rest of you. Try it—you’ll like it! |

Baby-Wearing Zumba©! - Think having a baby at home keeps you out of the party? Not so! Offered at Stellaria Natural Health, Be By Baby, and Bellybum boutique, join the party WITH your baby (in a sling or carrier) at this Zumba© class. You'll get an amazing workout, your baby will get exposure to world music and rhythms, and you'll both have a fun time dancing together. Have a blast with your baby! |

Baby-wearing Bellydance - Come and play, belly-style! With a focus on using dance moves to connect with your baby, you’ll also be toning the muscles needed to parent with ease. Offered at Bellybum boutique, this class gives you the time and space to do something for yourself while actively parenting your baby. Short combinations you can continue to use at home will be presented, as well as a general bellydance vocabulary.

Zumba© Gold! - Just getting back into exercise or have more grey hairs than not? Zumba gold may be for you! Zumba Gold is designed to ease you into the world of exercise gently. The format is wonderful for anyone recovering from an injury or returning to exercise after a long (or lifetime) hiatus as well as the senior set.
